Pastor René started his ministry at Lititz UMC on July 2008, after eight years of working on New Congregational Development, Hispanic/Latino Ministries, Ethnic Ministries, coaching and evangelism for the Eastern Pennsylvania Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church.
In 1995, he graduated from Temple University with a Bachelors degree in Psychology; and in June of 2000, he graduated from Drew Theological seminary in Madison, New Jersey with a Masters of Divinity. In 2003, Pastor René was ordained Elder in the United Methodist Church.
He is a Native of El Salvador, and came to the United States when he was 15 years old. He is married to Wanda Santos-Perez, pastor of El Redentor UMC in Lancaster. René and Wanda have three amazing kids, Kayla Rebecca, Isaias René and Ezekiel Manasseh.
He has served churches in Philadelphia, Lebanon and Lancaster. Before moving to Pennsylvania, René and Wanda lived in Brooklyn, and Long Island, New York.
He is passionate about his relationship with God, his family and the LUMC community. René feels that God has placed a "holy discontent" in his heart for justice, evangelism, and for preaching the Good News.
"My present-greatest hope is that my time at Lititz will be surrounded with loving relationships, fulfilling hope, and a fervent desire to follow Jesus Christ to places we've never been before."
