From humble beginnings and the Lord's
blessings the present Lititz United Methodist Church
came into existence. Approximately 1888 the Lititz mission
charge was constituted. Then in 1890 a congregation
formed, deciding to build a house of worship. Ground
was purchased on North Cedar Street and an edifice was
dedicated on December 20, 1891.
As a result of increasing membership
ground was broken in 1933 for a sizable addition to
be used by the Sunday School. The congregation continued
to outgrow its structure and so the decision was made
to relocate and build a new house of worship on the
corner of East Market and New Street. This beautiful,
new building was dedicated in March of 1972.
Still, with all
of this, the continued growth precipitated the need
for additional space. In 1995 the congregation voted
to build an addition that would allow more space for
education, fellowship, worship and office use.
This addition was consecrated on June 29, 1997.
